5 Revealing Questions

David Price

Director of Hotel Operations

Number of Years with Princess:

24

Number of Countries Visited:

Hometown:

Topsham, England (presently Valencia, CA)

A little about my job:

I direct and support the highly talented shipboard hotel management teams of six Princess ships to provide a memorable experience for our passengers.

1.

What item is in your suitcase that you couldn’t travel without?

I’ve just discovered the iPad, and wish it had been invented 24 years ago as it would’ve saved me a lot of excess baggage charges for packing my family photos, music and books! I can even Skype the family at home and read a daily newspaper!

2.

What’s your most treasured travel souvenir?

A beautiful silk rug I purchased in Xian, China whilst escorting a 3-day overland tour of passengers to see the Terracotta Army – It was the last thing I expected to buy!

3.

What’s the most memorable dish you’ve eaten during your travels?

Not for necessarily the right reasons, but on the same tour I mention above, at one of the stops we were guests of honor for dinner and as a tour leader, I sat on the table with local dignitaries and (thankfully) translators. To this day I’m still not totally sure what local traditional delicacies we were very kindly offered, but I recall being somewhat jealous of the passengers who were enjoying traditional Chinese food! (Unbelievably we discovered a McDonald’s in Shanghai before rejoining the ship!)

4.

What’s your travel motto?

Before leaving home, remember to include on your packing list some decent supplies of flexibility, patience and common sense – adventures abroad can really be so much more fun with them!!

5.

Where haven’t you been that’s on your travel bucket list?

One day, I’d love to surprise my wife with a trip to Peru – neither of us have been, and part of her family tree traces back there.
